Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Builds you save. When you save a build we store its title, the selected components and configuration, and a timestamp. Builds are public: anyone with the link can view and clone them. Builds are not linked to your identity - there are no accounts - so do not put personal information in a build title.
• Server logs and rate limiting. Like nearly every website, our servers briefly process IP addresses to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and rate-limit build creation. Rate-limiting data is held in memory and not written to a database.
• Aggregate analytics.We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service. It gives us aggregate counts (page views, referrers, events like "build created" or which merchant an outbound click went to) without tracking individuals across sites, and without storing personal data or using cookies. We do not collect names, email addresses, payment details, or precise location. We do not use tracking cookies or sell any data.

Cookies

The Service does not set tracking or advertising cookies. Any cookies that exist are strictly technical (for example, ones a hosting layer may require to serve the site) and are not used to profile you.

Outbound merchant links

Buy links take you to third-party merchants (for example Signature Solar, Current Connected, Renogy, or Amazon) and may include an affiliate tag so the merchant knows the visit came from us. Once you leave, the merchant's own privacy policy applies. We do not receive personal information about your purchases - affiliate reporting is aggregate.

Who we share data with

We use service providers to run the site: hosting infrastructure (currently DigitalOcean) and Plausible for the aggregate analytics described above. They process data only to provide those services. We do not sell or rent any data to anyone. We may disclose information if required by law.

Retention and deletion

Saved builds are retained indefinitely so shared links keep working. If you saved a build containing something you want removed, email us the build link at hello@solarbuildlist.com and we will delete it.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the Service and its data, including HTTPS everywhere. No system is perfectly secure, and builds are public by design, so treat anything you save as public.

Your rights

Because we hold essentially no personal data, most privacy-rights requests (access, deletion, portability under laws like GDPR or CCPA) reduce to build deletion, which we honor as described above. If you believe we hold personal data about you, contact us and we will investigate and respond.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
